This movie is a complete mystery, like many of Kubrick’s. Tons of subliminal messages, hidden along with history, is fascinating. I would never dream about this tie detail. I think I figure what he meant by that one…Jack will be trapped by his work(final scene, frozen in the maze), while Wendy and Danny will be free. The tie is metaphoric, like “getting hit by the throat”.
