First of all, I work 12 hour days outside the house Mon-Fri. I also travel for work. The chores and childcare still fall mostly on me, though my husband works too and does all the building/fixing around the house. The problem is, fixing things isn’t as constant if a burden as keeping the house clean. What has helped me at times is make a list of all the things I have to do in the day on one side and leave it out. Then I’ll ask if he has anything to do today and put it on the other side. Usually, the sides are way out of balance. Then I’ll ask if there is anything he can take from my side. The visual aspect of it usually helps. Over time, they get the point.
