Life didn’t get better, it just changed until I was able to finally leave the house at 17. I look back at my mother with disdain for having allowed these events, and more, to happen, yet I remember my childhood often when dealing with my own four boys so that I can be sure to make good decisions. I feel that I am fortunate to have lived through it all. I guess it truly could have been even worse.
