I’m not saying don’t punish your child, make them work off their debt but you also get your money back twice over and teach a valuable lesson at the same time. This exact thing happened with my son. We made him a list of chores and wrote out how much each one paid, and he picked whichever/however many chores to pay back that amount. Never had that problem again!
